**We’re taking a break at the moment but happy if you’d join our list for future mailings.**

This is COOKING WITH DYNAMITE, a newsletter about helping kids and families cook together, with recipes and tips from a pair of seasoned food pros who also happen to be parents.

Written by award-winning food writers and cookbook authors Sara Kate Gillingham and Dana Bowen, Cooking With Dynamite is a blueprint for parents who want to get their families more involved in the kitchen to make mealtime matter even more. Consider it a grown-up complement to Sara Kate and Dana’s new book for kids, Dynamite Kids Cooking School (Clarkson Potter).

We started The Dynamite Shop, a cooking school that teaches kids to make dinner for their families, solving two challenges families face these days:

  • The lack of culinary education taught in schools and passed down at home

  • Crossing dinner off busy parents’ to-do lists

So, why COOKING WITH DYNAMITE? Because we’ve realized that parents are also craving the info we share in our online, interactive classes, and often would cook alongside their kids and ask questions about the recipes.

Is this cooked enough?

When’s the best time to add salt?

Can you make it gluten-free?

Where is my broiler?

We also know deep down that good things happen when parents and kids cook together. Bonds are strengthened, stories shared, minds and hearts open.

So, parents, this newsletter is for you – dispatches from our own kitchens aimed to inspire, educate, and hopefully enlighten and entertain as you (and hopefully your kids) make dinner. We deliver the news straight-talk style: honest, up front, without holding back because we know what you’re craving.

Each week, we send out a recipe we’re cooking for dinner with our own families at home, plus all the lessons, tips, tricks, tidbits, history, anecdotes we share when we’re teaching students how to make it.

We write about the things that elevate our lives in the kitchen with our families and friends: cookbooks, products, even songs to cook to and dinner conversation starters. We’ll answer reader questions…

Help! What is the best knife to buy my teenager?

Is there really a difference between brands of canned tomatoes?

You’ll get interviews with chefs about the meals they cook with their kids; interviews with food experts and cookbook authors about the meals that are in heavy rotation in their household.

There are three ways to get on our list, and two ways to read:

  • Subscribe for free: You’ll get on our list and receive previews of our latest newsletter.

  • Become a paid subscriber: Support our work for just $8 per month (or $80/year) and you’ll get an email every week with a recipe you can make on our own, or with the young people in your life. These are recipes we’ve taught to hundreds of kids aged 6-17 throughout the last few years we’ve owned The Dynamite Shop. They work! But you’ll get more than just the recipe: each newsletter tells the story and the cooking lessons behind the dish. As a paid subscriber, you’ll also get access to our full recipe archive and the ability to comment and interact in our community.

  • Support us BIG TIME: For a commitment of $175/year, you’ll get the same benefits of the paid subscription plus we thank you BIG TIME for your mega support and return the gesture with a free signed copy of our cookbook, Dynamite Kids Cooking School (Clarkson Potter).

We’re so excited to start bringing you our thoughts about what we love and know best: cooking with families. We’ll do it with some oomph and some heat, and there will be room for humor and even some tears. It’ll be dynamite, promise.

Cheers!
Sara Kate & Dana
