Issue 32: From Sara Kate
As we head into a holiday weekend I wanted to take a moment to acknowledge the single parents out there and name how hard it can be sometimes. I’ve been at this for eleven years and I can say it does get easier, but there are days when it’s not. That struggle comes up a lot in the kitchen, and yes, even for a professional like me.
Some days that struggle looks like slapping together some leftovers or ordering take-out. Sometimes it’s twice a week. It’s just the reality. But this week I’m staying with my daughter in a borrowed house, getting her out to the town where she will have her first real summer job, and one night we just cut it too close with our errands and chores. This is when, if coupled with a co-parent, I might have called in for help, or delegated the help ahead of time.
